Our latest monthly recap of the hottest new food and beverage openings from around the world on trendhub is live, spotlighting six highlight openings from August here on the blog.

In no particular order, six highlights from the comprehensive foodwatching and drinkswatching new opening reports are:

Revel Woods Tavern & Terrace, Calgary

Revel Woods Tavern & Terrace in Calgary is a new neighbourhood spot.

The food is based on Southern USA cuisine with a touch of French. The food is cooked over pecan, hickory and oak woods using a rare Pira charcoal oven. Chef Terry Kluke designed the menu with a choice of sharing plates, po'boys, meatballs, fish and steaks.

Drinks include craft beers and cocktails, along with wines designed to pair with the food menu.

Bar Blondie, Queen's Park, London

Bar Blondie is by award winning sommelier Alexandra Price and restaurateur Elliot Milne.

The wine bar has a wine list in four sections, with over 200 wines, where each section is said to represent "a different philosophical approach to wine". The Director is all about iconic estates and expressive cuvées, that channel Sergio Leone. The Architect is all about Precision and Structure with a nod to Ray Eames. The Writer celebrates Joan Didion with Soulful, terroir-driven wines and The Actor is all about low-intervention producers, pushing boundaries with natural wines.

Food is by Head Chef Alastair Walling and Executive Chef Alexander Busca, the two contributing elements of both French and Italian cuisine.

Entrecôte Restaurant, Vancouver

Entrecôte Restaurant in Vancouver is a Parisian inspired steak-frites concept.

The restaurant serves premium cuts of entrecôte steak that are served covered in a secret sauce. Steaks also come with handmade frites, and a butter lettuce salad dressed in a house vinaigrette as a starter. For dessert there is a choice of French delicacies including Crème Brûlée, Vacherins Chocolat et Framboise and Mousse au Chocolat.

Cherry Tree Hotel, Cremorne, Melbourne

The Cherry Tree Hotel in Cremorne, Melbourne has reopened after a six-month refurbishment, under new ownership of Head Chef and co-owner Dan Hilton and Keith Gallacher.

Most areas in the bar are new, from stained glass to dark timber across the bar. The bar drinks are focused on beer - with 50 barrels sold in the first five days. Beers include Guinness and Kirin and pours from independent Victorian breweries like Stomping Ground. They also have a wine list of mainly Australian pours.

Food is based on elevated pub classics with daily specials and dishes inspired by wine bar style plates.

Rosina, Wandsworth, London

Rosina by Adam Byatt is an Italian restaurant on Wandsworth Common.

This is Byatt's first professional Italian restaurant where he is joined by long-standing members of his front and back of house teams. Will Bee is the head chef at Rosina, he has a career including Michelin starred restaurants.

British and Italian ingredients are used across the Italian recipes. Desserts are served from a marble trolley and include Rosie's Torta Fedora, Pina's Tiramisù or Iced Cherries. Wines are predominantly from organic and biodynamic producers across Italy.

Kopê House, San Francisco

Kopê House is by a group of friends who met at Blue Bottle Coffee and who have worked around San Francisco in various places.

Called Alex, Carlos and Jared they say that Kopé House is an homage to their "rich cultural roots, San Francisco, and exceptional coffee". Their own in-house roast is served as a classic espresso menu with a selection of signature drinks. They also have single origin coffees that rotate seasonally, sourced from their favourite roasters around the globe.
