Danish restaurant Noma regained its title as the S.Pellegrino World's best Restaurant. After nine years on the list and three consecutive wins in 2010, 2011 and 2012, Noma celebrates once again as it returns to the coveted No.1 position. The results were announced at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, in London-an event widely considered to be the highlight of the global gastronomic calendar.

The 2014 GB & Ireland Michelin stars have just been announced, with the new guide available from 4 October 2013. While there are no changes in the 3 star category, there are two restaurants promoted from one to two Michelin stars: Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, led by Head Chef Ashley Palmer-Watts, is a glorious celebration of Britain’s culinary heritage; while The Greenhouse showcases Arnaud Bignon’s technically impressive and innovative cooking.

What better time to announce the winners of the 2013 Marmalade Awards than in the middle of National Marmalade Week, 2nd – 9th March.
This year at Dalemain Mansion and Gardens in Cumbria where Paddington bear eagerly awaits, a retired micro-biologist from Brighton and an artisan preserves maker from a rural corner of the Czech Republic were crowned the world’s best marmalade makers at last weekend’s World’s Original Marmalade Awards & Festival.

ChopChop Magazine, a nonprofit quarterly food magazine for kids aged 5-12 and their families, has been named a winner of a 2013 Parents' Choice Magazine Award (Gold).
Jessica Hensley, writing on the Parents' Choice Foundation website, praises the magazine: "ChopChop's mission is to 'inspire and teach kids to cook and eat real food with their families.' With a healthy dose of delicious recipes, fun facts about food and cooking, and a format that is very easy for kids to follow, they are clearly succeeding."

In the latest edition of the highly anticipated Michelin Guide San Francisco Bay Area & Wine Country 2013, 42 restaurants have been awarded Michelin stars. Both restaurants that achieved three Michelin stars in 2012–The French Laundry and The Restaurant at Meadowood–maintained this honor.

It is the season of restaurant awards and last night, 8 October, saw the fifth National Restaurant Awards take place at the new venue of The Brewery in Chiswell Street, London. The Ledbury was voted as the UK’s best restaurant for the third year running, with second and third places going to Pollen Street Social and The Hand & Flowers.

In the latest edition of the highly anticipated MICHELIN Guide New York City 2013, a record 66 restaurants have been awarded Michelin stars. All seven restaurants who achieved Michelin's three star distinction in 2012 maintained top honors. Three Michelin stars is considered the utmost international recognition in the culinary world.
One restaurant joined the ranks of the two-starred establishments, atera in Tribeca, for a total of seven in this category.
Fifty-two restaurants earned one Michelin star, including nine newcomers.

This year’s guide sees three restaurants promoted from one to two Michelin stars. Sketch, in Mayfair, opened in 2002 and received its first Michelin star in 2005; L’Enclume, in Cartmel also opened in 2002 and was awarded its first Michelin star three years later; while Michael Wignall at the Latymer, Bagshot, opened in 2007 and won its first Michelin star in 2009.
Editor, Rebecca Burr said: “These are three equally worthy recipients of our two star award but each restaurant is very different in nature. Michael Wignall’s cooking offers a distinct sense of sophistication, Jean Denis Le Bras at Sketch has a much more ambitious style, while Simon Rogan’s cooking has steadily evolved and is now much more aligned with nature.”

It’s that time of the year again….. that is, for the AA Food Awards, and who better than the legendary Pierre Koffman to be awarded the Chef of the Year title. This award means a lot to chefs as it’s the one that is voted for by other chefs.

The Good Food Guide have just awarded chef Simon Rogan a perfect score of 10 after visiting his restaurant in Cartmel, Cumbria. To put it into context, the last time this high score was awarded was in 2006 to Heston Blumenthal of The Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire. And only the seventh since the introduction of the system in 1998.

As always, the Michelin Guide France remains the most waited of all the guides, what with it being the birth place of the coveted stars and all that. This year it does not fail to disappoint with 4,457 hotels and 4,289 restaurants recommended, 426 establishments listed for the first time, one new restaurant with 3 stars, 10 with 2 stars, 58 with 1 star and 124 new Bib Gourmand restaurants. In 10 years, the number of starred restaurants in France has risen by 15% and the number of Bib Gourmands by 40%. Dining every day in a wide variety of restaurants across all price categories, the Michelin guide inspectors can attest to fact that quality everywhere in on the rise.
