Gourmet fans can look forward to a culinary encounter with the following eight international star-crowned guest chefs at the end of January 2014 in the Upper Engadine: Andree Köthe, Tim Raue and Christian Scharrer arrive from Germany, Mauro Colagreco and Yoann Conte will come from France, Yoshihiro Takahashi from Japan, Moshik Roth from the Netherlands and Wolfgang Puck from the USA.

The chef's latest advert for supermarket Waitrose - to be unveiled today - will show five hidden tickets being placed inside a signature box of chocolates he has created for the grocer this Christmas.

Michelin has just published its 2014 guide Netherlands, an especially rich edition as this year it awards a third star to a new restaurant.
De Leest in Vaassen has obtained a three-star ranking for the first time. In commenting about the restaurant, the International Director of the MICHELIN guides Michael Ellis said: “Chef Jacob Jan Boerma offers a highly personalized style of cooking in which preparation and culinary techniques are perfectly mastered. His cuisine is creative and full of influences from the world. The elegant contrast of sweet, savoury and tangy flavours is truly amazing.”

Last week saw the opening of Street-ADL and Orana restaurants by Scottish-Australian chef Jock Zonfrillo in Adelaide, South Australia.
Renowned for his research into both Australia's native ingredients and indigenous culture, Zonfrillo has opened a dual restaurant concept comprising Street-ADL, an accessible, energetic bar and dining experience and Orana, a small, intimate restaurant offering more complex dishes.

A new iPhone app to help travellers and food lovers translate Italian foods and restaurant menus into English has been released. The app, "Translate A Menu – Italy Food Dictionary," offers instant search of over 5000 Italian foods and dishes. A "reverse search" to translate a food from English into Italian is also a feature.
"Unlike other language translation apps or phrasebooks, this app tells you exactly what you are ordering from an Italian menu: the ingredients, how it is cooked and how to pronounce a dish," said Menu Translate's marketing manager, Roslyn Young.
